seeing these posts of awesome, bad-ass and oftentimes rare animals and then it’s nothing but a bunch of people going OOOOH I WANT ONE.
FUCK YOU.
It’s for shit like that we have an abusive, exploitative pet trade. People see some animal that they think is cute or “exotic” (and don’t even get me started on how fucked up the word “exotic” is), they remove it from its natural home, stick it in a cage and then there’s a whole fucking industry to support it. FUCK THAT.
and then some other kind of animal that isn’t so cuddly or funny looking is neglected because you only care about things that are “adorable.”
animal rescue is one thing, but if you are SHOPPING for an animal - a pet - you are SUPPORTING AND COMPLICIT IN ANIMAL ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION.
i’m not saying we can’t reblog or admire all animals, but don’t put shit like “ooh i want one”. they probably don’t want to live with you and you going out a purchasing one is an awful, inhumane thing to do. i don’t care if you’re joking, because a lot of people out there aren’t. why can’t we just admire and respect animals for who they are as individual beings? if you can only look at something and relate to it by saying, “I like that and I must have one” then you are a fucked up human being and should probably do some serious thinking about your life.
